No sooner had Jason started snoring that I had a pretty painful contraction as I was lying in bed. I just breathed through it and tried to fall asleep again. Well, the painful contractions kept coming, but about 15 mins apart, so I just kinda rested in between. By about 2am I figured I better wake up Jason and 45 mins later we decided to call his mom who was on duty. By the time Grandma got to the house, around 3:30am, I was feeling like we better get going. Susan watched me have a contraction and said to get going. She could tell. The 10 min drive to the hospital I had 3 contractions, and 4 more just walking in from the car up to the maternity ward. The nurses looked at me and I had another contraction right there. They asked if I wanted an epidural, and I said no, and they kindly said "good, because you're not going to have time to get one." I could hear them taking bets on how far along I was while I was changing. I just kept thinking please let me be at least 5 cm. They checked and I was at a 7! Woo hoo! I could tell I was heading in to transition. Soon, Dr. Lewis got there and I was ready to push. I tried pushing in a weird position, but Addie was stuck on my pubic bone. The nurses had me roll over to my side, and then things got much easier. Addie was born two contractions later 5:02am. She really was one of my easiest deliveries! I made a mistake and decided to have some IV drugs after the delivery that made me very light headed and sleepy, but other than that it was great!
Before (obviously in between contractions)
After
Addie Jane 7lbs. 7oz. 19in. 5:02am
I hope Addie knows what she was getting herself into!
I'm sure she'll be making funny faces with them in no time!
Kimball's pretty happy to finally have a sister!
And I was pretty happy to spend 2 of the hotest days in the cool hospital!
